I've been debating with myself about it for a while now and I've finally reached a decision- I am going on a blogging hiatus*. There are a number of different factors leading up to this decision, one being that I start grad school (a masters in library and information science) in a mere two days (and according to my profs that I met the other day first semester is KILLER- my program is supposed to be three back-to-back semesters but apparently 2/3 of students have to take between 1-2 additional semesters because they can't handle the workload is so crazy that they need additional time to complete it O.o ), another being that I am
I think that Rachel over at Fiktshun summarized my feelings to a tee when she stated on her Annex:
"My brain is fried. Officially fried[...] Between work and real life stuff, I barely have the brain power to create a post on my main blog[...]."
I literally have to force myself to sit down and write a review (at this point in time I am no longer writing reviews of "me" books, I am only writing reviews for books that I have received from the publisher/ author to read and review). I'm not quite sure how long this hiatus will be (right now I am just hoping for the month of September, but we will see depending on how school goes).
*I will still be posting the odd review here and there that I owe, like my review of "Pushing the Limits" by Katie McGarry and "Envy" by Elizabeth Miles.
That being said, you will still be able to find me over at Twitter and Facebook since both (Twitter especially) is my Kryptonite and it would quite literally take a zombie Apocalypse for me to quit Twitter (who am I kidding? I'd still probably Tweet- letting other survivors know of my location ;) ).
Anyways, I just thought that I'd let y'all know. Thanks so much for your support and I apologize to everyone I owe comments to! Please know that they don't go unappreciated!
First semester of grad school was tough for me too....but once you get into the swing of things you'll find that its not as bad as the profs make it out to seem! Just a matter of figuring out the best time management strategies for yourself! What are you studying in grad school?
ReplyDeleteOh wait! Just remembered you saying somewhere before that you are doing your MLIS right? Pfftt! Seriously don't worry about it at all! I'm just finishing up my last credit of my MLIS at Western and its a breeze! Its a bit of a change at first because you have A LOT of mini assignments to do....but after first semester everything is a piece of cake! My friends who did their graduate degrees in English and Physics made fun of how light my course work was compared to theirs. If you ever want any help with your course work feel free to message me :)
ReplyDeleteOh good for you! And congratulations on starting Grad School and embarking on an exciting future career. I wish you all the best with your studies. It will be hard work but if it's something you love it will also be fun!
ReplyDeleteAnd hopefully now and again you'll be able to sneak in a purely for pleasure read just to get some mental down-time from school.
Take as long as you need and those of us who love silently stalking your blog will still be here when you feel like stopping by for a post.
And we'll definitely look out for your fun and exciting school freak-out tweets!
Good luck! I am one of those who took an extra term so I only had 4 classes because I am massively high stress... I took summer classes in undergrad so from years 2 - 4 I only had 4 classes then too. It can get insane scheduling in the assignments, but you'll definitely work it out. Just make sure you have a calendar of all your assignments and plan it out. My planner basically saved my life. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, good luck & I know we shall talk tons anyway. A hiatus definitely makes sense. =)
Good luck! And take the time you need. School is important and we will still all be here when you have time to post more often again. :)
