Well I think that this is a kinda great question because I posted a interview/ giveaway with author Sean Beaudoin this week and I have only had a few people enter the giveaway... So this is a great opportunity to plug it (some more- I know, I know, I have been kinda going overboard with the Tweets. But seeing as this is my first author giveaway I just want it to be somewhat successful). So yes! Book Blogger Hop

"Why do you read the genre that you do? What draws you to it?"

Okie dokie, so I think it is pretty obvious that  I almost strictly read YA paranormal/ fantasy (though I do read the occasional adult paranormal romance or other genres of YA).  I think that my love of fantasy first emerged through watching such television shows as "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" and movies such as "Race to Witch Mountain" at a young age- probably around 5 years of age. When all of the little girls in my cases wanted to be princesses, mommies and whatnot, I wanted to be a witch... This love of fantasy/ paranormal increased tenfold with the release of the  "Harry Potter" series which came out when I was in grade four. My love of the paranormal/ fantasy continued on throughout the years, but my love of young adult novels didn't fully rear its head until I started working at my local library when I was in grade ten. Because I was a young adult I obviously gravitated towards the young adult section of the library- the juvenile stuff was well, just too juvenile for me, and the adult stuff was obviously way too adult for me and it has just kinda stuck with me. Though I am sure that I will continue reading YA stuff into the future, I must admit that at the age of 20 I am already finding it increasingly difficult to connect with some of the young adult characters- especially if they are around 14-16 years of age, so I think that I will focus less attention on YA novels where the characters are so young, and focus more so on YA novels where the characters are 18+ (plus, aren't YA books typically said to be for around 14-24 year olds? Hope so!).

Anyways, what genres do you prefer?

"What is the thing you like most about reading book blogs? Is it the reviews, author guest posts, articles, giveaways, or something else entirely?"
  
Hmmm.... I can't say that this is something I have honestly given much thought to... I do love reviews, especially for books that I am tres excited about and have just read (*cough, cough "The Last Sacrifice"***) because I love hearing everyone's different take about it, and I love talking out the plot line and everything that happened with someone else who has actually read it (I mean, talking out a book with my mom who has never read it can only go so far. She is great and tries and all, but gets confused with all of the character names I am throwing at her- especially with YA paranormal, whose characters seems to have really uncommon names). I also like reading reviews about books I have yet to read before, especially if they can help sway me to either purchase a book or just to check it out from the library. And you know what? I am not the type of person who gets all that mad about spoilers... If I read the plot line and know what happens beforehand, meh... (and a secret, this is kinda bad... But sometimes when I am really looking forward to a book and cannot wait to see how it all wraps up in the end, I will read the last couple of pages. Shhhh...). 

Anyways, author interviews are a lot of fun too. I really like when authors really get into the silly questions that bloggers sometimes ask (ie. what is your favourite ice-cream). I hate it when they get all uptight about questions like that and refuse to answer them or answer them too seriously- have a little fun! 

Articles are great too, I mean I would have never known that CLARY HAD FRIGGIN' BEEN CAST IN "THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS" MOVIE HAD I NOT READ CASSIE CLARE'S LIVEJOURNAL AND CLICKED ON THE LINK THAT LED TO THE ARTICLE!!! Sorry, I just got a little excited- I like the girl that they cast- much better than Emma Stone IMO.

Book Blogger Hop

"What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?"

Oh gosh... This is a hard one. I feel like a lot of books that I read in the beginning of this school year were more than a little disappointing and some of them I did not enjoy reading whatsoever. I would have to say that "Halo" by Alexandra Adornetto and "Raised by Wolves" by Jennifer Lynn Barnes were two of the biggest let-downs I have read recently. Both had beautiful covers that I was immediately attracted to, the plotlines of each sound amazing, they both had pretty good reviews (well more so "Raised by Wolves" than "Halo"), and they both had so much potential, but they did not live up to that potential whatsoever. I seriously struggled to finish "Raised by Wolves", I wasn't too concerned if I didn't finish it because I hadn't bought a copy of the book, I had just lent it from the library, but "Halo"? Well, I bought that book (unfortunately) and I wasn't not going to finish it- I spent good hard earned money on it! And you know what? I didn't like "Clockwork Angel" by Cassie Clare as much as I would have liked to. Cassie's other series "Mortal Instruments" is my favourite series of all time, and so maybe I was trying to compare the series too much, but "CA" just didn't really do it for me. I found the characters in both series to be pretty much the same, save for the name... I mean, aren't Will and Jace pretty much the same, but Will is all dark haired and Jace is all golden?

I think that this may just be one of the best questions ever, though one of the hardest to answer... I can't pick just one! Therefore I will pick 5 of my all time favourite book covers:

"City of Bones" by Cassandra Clare (Jace decked out in all of his runes... What could be better?)

"Wicked Lovely"by Melissa Marr

"Paranormalcy" by Kiersten White (I just finished reading this and hope to have a review up soon!)

"Nightshade" By Andrea Cremer (okay, so I haven't even read this book yet but I think that the cover is one of the most beautiful covers I have ever seen before and I would buy the book just for the cover, regardless of the story)

"Angelfire" by Courtney Alosin Moulton (yep, haven't read this book either but she looks really kick-ass, so  I think that the story will rock)...

Book Blogger Hop

Since Thanksgiving is coming up next week, let's use this week's Hop to share what we are most thankful for and what our holiday traditions are!

Well since I am Canadian we celebrated Thanksgiving over a month ago, but that doesn't mean that I am not thankful for anything now! ;) Let's see... I am thankful for my fam jam (Maj, Faj, and the little sis) and my cats Ruffles and Marbles (even though they are both crazy). I am thankful for having the best grandparents in the entire world, even if they are no longer with us today. I don't think I would be the person I am today if it weren't for them.

I am definetely thankful for fantabulous books- seriously if books did not exist I have no idea what I would do with myself- well, I suppose I would probably be a crazy gamer or something (but I would most likely suck since I have never played a video game before) or maybe a better student since I would have nothing to distract me from school- Oops. I am thankful for my education- even though most of the time I  feel like pulling my hair out. One. Piece. At. A. Time. (Cultures of the Middle East exams will do that to you).

And I am thankful for my followers (as corny as it sounds), y'all are great! I don't know if you can comprehend how much I appreciate/ get excited for reading comments and all of that jazz... Oh yes, and Craftster! Can't forget about the greatest website ever. I have been introduced to amazing crafters all over the world and have made some really great friendships from it! Anyways, Happy early Thanksgiving to all of my American friends/ followers (and anyone else who may be celebrating Thanksgiving next weekend)- Hope you have an amazing weekend (well, how could you not?!? Turkey! Pumpkin pie with whip cream! Yummy food in general?!?).

Book Blogger Hop

Sorry for being pretty MIA the last couple of days... I have had a couple of ridiculous exams/ projects due. Only one more exams next week and then I will be exam free for a couple of more weeks (and therefore I can *fingers crossed* read some of the fantabulous books I have on hold at the library!)...

Anyways, onto this week's Book Blogger Hop hosted by Crazy for Books!

Jennifer asks this week:

"If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"

The verdict?!? YES! I absolutely hate starting a series without ever read the previous books before, so I make all attempts to not do it. However, in some rare cases I might not pay attention to such details and start a book and later will notice that there is clearly a book before it, other times if the book can stand on its own and everything makes sense I will continue on with it. But I never intentionally start a series partway through. With series I have read though (Ie. "The Mortal Instruments", the "Shifters" series), I will pick up random books within the series to reread and that doesn't bother me since clearly I have already read them before and I know what is going to happen anyways. Sometimes it can be a booger though waiting for the first book in a series, take "The Hunger Games" series for instance. I ordered all three books at once from the library and I have gotten the last 2 books, but I haven't received the first yet... So now I have to wait for a gazillion people to finish up with the first before I can read the ones that I currently have... :/

Book Blogger Hop

Jennifer over At Crazy For Books asks us for this weeks Book Blogger Hop question:

"What are your feelings on losing followers? Have you ever stopped following a blog?"

At this moment, since I am trying to biggasize my followers, I think that I would be kinda disappointed if I were to lose a follower, but I don't think it would be something that would really wreck my day... 

I can understand why people would stop following a blog, in the time that I have really started picking up on my posting/ following blogs and whatnot (so a few months), I have started following at least 70-80 blogs. Sometimes I will follow up to 5-6/day! What I find difficult is when I have a short period of time to spend on blogger and I have a gazillion blog updates to look at and this is primarily because I do follow quite a few and most of them are updated at least once a day (and I do read almost every blog update from the blogs that I follow, though I may not always comment on them). And I would understand that my followers might be in the same situation, so many blogs to read and so little time. And because so, you gottsa prune some out (not that I have). Also, if there was a blog that you were following which  was no longer updated, or had changed drastically from what it originally was, I can understand no longer following it. 

So yes... That is my feelings on the entire losing followers/ stop following blogs situation. ;)
