Waiting on Wednesday

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted over at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating...
Divergent (Divergent Trilogy)Title: "Divergent"
Author: Veronica Roth
Release Date: May 3, 2011

From Goodreads: "In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her."

Die for MeTitle: "Die For Me"
Author: Amy Plum
Release Date: May 10, 2011

From Goodreads: "DIE FOR ME is the first of three books about Kate, a sixteen-year-old American who moves to Paris after the death of her parents. It introduces a new version of the undead with revenants, beings who are fated to sacrifice themselves over and over again to save others’ lives. Kate finds herself falling for Vincent, who she discovers is not the typical French teenager he appears: he is something else entirely.

DIE FOR ME presents a new supernatural mythology presented in a city where dreams are sometimes the same as reality."

StarcrossedTitle: "Starcrossed"
Author: Josephine Angelini
Release Date: May 31, 2011

From Goodreads: "How do you defy destiny?

Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.

As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart."

  1. Great picks! I'm so looking forward too all those books!<3 They all seem to have something special, an unique story that I can't wait to read. And I love the covers of Die for Me and Starcrossed!

  2. Honestly Avery, our taste in books couldn't be more similar. I'm dying to read all three of these! I've heard fabulous things about all of them and I can't wait to get my hands each one:) And they all have stunning covers which is always a bonus for me!

  3. I really want to read Divergent, too! It looks soooo good. And Starcrossed and Die For Me look amazing, too. I was a little thrown off by Die For Me when the original cover was released--the title is But, I love that the new cover is so bright and colorful. I try not to judge books by covers but the new cover would definitely make me pick it up!

  4. Wow! That's a lot of picks! I'm always used to just 1! ;)

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment! I really appreciate it!

Though I appreciate awards I have decided to make my blog an "award-free zone". Unfortunately I do not have the time to hold up my end of award-giving. But again, I appreciate you thinking of me!
