"Strange Angels" by Lili St. Crow

Strange Angels (Strange Angels, Book 1)From Goodreads: " Dru Anderson has what her grandmother called “the touch.” (Comes in handy when you’re traveling from town to town with your dad, hunting ghosts, suckers, wulfen, and the occasional zombie.)

Then her dad turns up dead—but still walking—and Dru knows she’s next. Even worse, she’s got two guys hungry for her affections, and they’re not about to let the fiercely independent Dru go it alone. Will Dru discover just how special she really is before coming face-to-fang with whatever—or whoever— is hunting her?"

If I had to describe this book in one word? Sheer fantabulousness (okay, so that was two words, but you get the point). This is hands down one of my most favourite book series ever and I seriously cannot get enough of it (I think that this is my 7th or 8th time reading it).

Typically when a book is slow in giving me answers I find myself getting more and more frustrated and oftentimes find that that frustration affects my rating of the book, but I don't find myself experiencing that with this book (and I don't think that it is just because, as mentioned, I have read this book about 7-8 times previously and therefore I know what happens- I don't recall experiencing any frustration the first time I read it) and for that I am grateful. Yes, there are answers that I would love to have in the here and now, but those wants are manageable (unlike some series where I am seriously pulling my hair out of my head yelling "GIVE ME ANSWERS! DON'T ANSWER QUESTIONS WITH EVEN MORE QUESTIONS!").

So it is a given that Dru is one of the most kick-ass female characters. Ever. I mean, the girl is like a female take on Sam and Dean from "Supernatural" and can load like a gazillion different guns in under five minutes (except for AK-47s- don't touch AK-47s). As for Graves (her best friend that she dragged into the "Real World" which led to him being bit and turned into a loup-garou)?  Well, he is honestly the bestest friend that anyone could ever ask for. And Graves isn't alone in this, As for Chris? Well the verdict is still out on him. I think that if I had to choose my favourite boy right now I wouldn't be able to- seriously, I have honestly never been so conflicted about boys in a book series before!?!

I think that Lili has created a beautiful, yet dark and mysterious world within this series, and while I like her "Jill Kismet" and "Dante Valentine" series, I still think that this series is the best of them all. Furthermore, her take on the paranormal is unlike anything I have ever read before- Svetochas? Blooming? Nosferat? Very awesome stuff (and lately I have been  very much on a boarding school/ academy where all of the students are paranormal book reading kick and I must say that in my opinion Lili has done it the best out of all of the books I have read)!

All in all this book series is a must-read, I don't think that anyone will be disappointed by it!

Rating: 10/10

  1. Okay, any review that starts out with you calling a book "sheer fantabulousness" and then proceeds to inform me you've read it 7 or 8 times makes me think I'm missing out on something. I must read this series! Love a kick-ass heroine and a unique take on the paranormal:)

  4. It always makes me sit up straight and take notice when people talk about their favourite series and mention how many times they've read it. I think I had initially brushed this one aside as one of the bajillion series I still need to read but no more! A kick-ass heroine and quick answers? Yes, please!

  8. All I cam say is I that I agree with you 100% in EVERYTHING - except one thing. I was always GRAVES GRAVES EDGAR GRAVES all the way!!! I hate Christophe. With a passion. So much back and forth, one minute Dru's kissing him the next she hates his guts - just make a decision! But that doesn't lessen my love of the series in any way shape or form, 10/10 doesn't do this book justice! :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment! I really appreciate it!

Though I appreciate awards I have decided to make my blog an "award-free zone". Unfortunately I do not have the time to hold up my end of award-giving. But again, I appreciate you thinking of me!
