In My Mailbox!
In My Mailbox is a weekly post hosted by Kirsti at The Story Siren as a chance to share the books we've bought or received over the past week.
Because pretty much everyone in my family is too afraid to buy me books for Christmas, because they don't know if I already have a book or they don't know if I will like it, I always get designated book money so that I an buy whatever books happen to catch my eye- lucky me! So on Boxing Day we hit up Chapters. Typically I don't buy books at Chapters because they rarely have sales and I love me some Amazon sales, surprisingly however, Chapters did have some Boxing Day deals going on and I obviously had to take advantage of them (the bonus? I didn't have to wait for the books to arrive on my doorstep!).
"The Lost Saint" by Bree Despain- Bought (I have already read and reviewed this book. It was fantabulous! Much better than the first book and totally deserving of its rating of 10/10).
"Darklight" by Leslie Livingston- Bought (I have the first book in this series, but for some reason I never got around to reading this book. I was super excited because I totally got it in hardcover for $5.99! Thanks bargin section of Chapters!)
"The Body Finder" by Kimberly Derting- Bought (Again, I have already read and reviewed this. This is by far the best book of 2010 in my opinion and well deserving of its 11/10 rating).
"Vanished: Book 1" by Meg Cabot- Bought (This book actually contains books one and two of Meg's "1-800-Where-R-U" series. I love this series a bunch and it is a series that I never get tired of reading).
"Vanished: Book 2" by Meg Cabot- Bought (Again, this book actually contains books three and four of Meg's "1-800-Where-R-U" series).
What did you get in your mailbox?

Not sure I'd give Body Finder a 11/10 rating but it is a good read ;) I've got The Dark Divine on my TBR shelf, was a Christmas pressie from a friend, so I'm curious to hear that you think the second book is a lot better. Happy reading! :)
ReplyDelete@Cem, I just thought that the "The Body Finder" was a perfect combination of romance and paranormal. I am just such a sucker for romance (and cute boys like Jay!)... ;)
ReplyDeleteBut yes, I thought that "The Dark Divine" was okay, I think that I rated it 8/10- I just found it to be quite slow and whatnot, but "The Lost Saint"? Non-stop adventure (plus another cute boy character is introduced)!
I need to check out this bargain section at Chapters that you speak of.
ReplyDelete@Aylee, I was actually quite surprised by some of the books that they had in it, for instance "Wings" by Aprilynne Pike, all of the "Gossip Girl" books and whatnot- all hardcover and none over $6.99. I figure that they just purchase so many copies and need to get rid of them somehow. A lot of the books that I own in paperback I am thinking about replacing in hardcover just because they are so cheap.
ReplyDeleteThey look so pretty! I really want to read The Body Finder, I hope you like it and your other books.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading :D
You have a nice mailbox! Enjoy the reading. My Mailbox Monday is also up. Please do visit.
ReplyDeleteStill have to read the Dark Divine myself!
ReplyDeleteOOh haven't read that series from Meg Cabot, have you read her Mediator series? OMG! That is seriously one of my fave YA series that I remember from my youth! And yesterday, I did see one book that was a combo of books 1 and 2! I have her first 4 books under her other name Jenny Carroll, they were really good! The ending was a little cheesy, but still good though, you should check them out if you ever get the chance!
Here's my IMM
@Jessica, the "Mediator" series is one of my favourite series written by her! That is my next book buy... Jesse? *Swoon*!
ReplyDeleteI love Amazon sales as well, but it looks like you did pretty darn well at Chapters! I'm looking forward to your thoughts on The Lost Saint, I'm looking forward to reading that and The Dark Divine:)
ReplyDelete@ Jenny, I reviewed both "The Dark Divine" and "The Lost Saint" earlier last week... I liked "The Lost Saint" quite a bit more than "The Dark Divine"... "The Lost Saint" review is here: http://averysbooknook.blogspot.com/2010/12/lost-saint-by-bree-despain.html
ReplyDeleteAh, the Vanished books are the 1-800 books! I was wondering if there was a new Meg Cabot series I hadn't heard of. I still need to read that series. I like the bind up covers.
ReplyDeleteYour books look so pretty together, all blue and purple :)
